The zinc finger–homeodomain (ZF-HD) subfamily of homeobox genes has been researched in some model plants. There are 14 members of this family in Arabidopsis, and it encodes a group of transcriptional regulators with unique biochemical activities that play overlapping regulatory roles in Arabidopsis floral development. Some ZF-HD family members are expressed in a floral-specific manner. It was also demonstrated that the HDs of the ZF-HD proteins contain distinct features that cluster them as a unique class of plant HD-containing proteins. We identified ZF-HD Whirly genes, including JTY(10), LWM(10) and F106(9), all genes were divided into 6 subfamilies.
